What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is an effective, safe, and easy way to eliminate visible surface veins.  It consists of a series of injections, where medication is introduced into a vein to fibrose and eventually dissolve it.  

At your first visit you will complete a medical history form and the doctor will initiate a color flow doppler ultrasound diagnostic evaluation. You will then be informed of the treatment required to improve your condition.  

Sclerotherapy involves a series of injection treatments scheduled in two week intervals.  After completion of your treatment we recommend a six month check up.  

The treatment of varicose veins should always include the use of compression therapy.  Compression therapy helps distended veins return to normal size.  Other benefits include relief of pain.  

Regardless of receiving treatment compression therapy is recommended for persons traveling in cars on long trips, standing for periods of time such as work, and air travel.
